SpaceX Plans Starlink Launch from Vandenberg, Sonic Booms Expected
SpaceX aims to launch 24 Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base on April 29, 2026. The Falcon 9 rocket launch may generate sonic booms affecting local residents.

On April 29, 2026, SpaceX will launch 24 Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base using a Falcon 9 rocket. This mission will mark the 33rd flight of the first stage booster, which has previously supported multiple missions, including 20 Starlink launches.
Sonic booms may occur as the rocket ascends, potentially audible to residents in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties. Vandenberg officials have initiated community engagement through a speaker series to address sonic booms and update residents on base activities, including three events held earlier this year. The final event is scheduled for May 19, 2026, in Ojai, focusing on community concerns and base operations.
