SpaceX Stock Fluctuates Amid New US Space Force Contract and Upcoming Earnings Report
SpaceX shares fell after an initial gain despite securing a $1.6 billion contract with the US Space Force. Investors are focused on the company's Q1 earnings report, which is expected to highlight AI expenditures and Starlink growth.

SpaceX secured a $1.6 billion contract from the US Space Force for 18 Falcon 9 launches, scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. This reinforces SpaceX's position in the commercial launch market, which saw Falcon 9 account for approximately 70% of launches outside China this year.
The company's upcoming Q1 earnings report on August 4 is anticipated to provide insights into its financial performance and investment priorities, particularly around AI, where $7.7 billion was spent in Q1 2026. As concerns over increased stock supply loom, SpaceX shares remain 17% below their IPO price of $135 and about 44% below their record closing price of $201.80.
