Spain Launches €355m RENOVAL 2 Funding Call for Hydrogen and Clean Technology Manufacturing
Spain has opened a €355m funding call under the RENOVAL 2 programme aimed at enhancing its domestic clean-technology manufacturing base, explicitly including hydrogen projects. The programme, approved by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, broadens eligibility to incorporate equipment for hydrogen technologies, renewables, storage, and energy efficiency.
Applications will be accepted from January 22 to February 25, 2026. Funding will be allocated in two tracks: €25 million for projects up to €30M, and €330 million for those exceeding that threshold. Base aid intensity is set at 15% of eligible costs, with increases available in designated areas and for SMEs. RENOVAL 2 seeks to bolster Spain's clean-tech sovereignty amidst global supply chain competition, targeting gaps in technologies including heat pumps and hydrogen decarbonization solutions for heavy industry.
