Spalding County Approves $3.9 Billion Data Center Development Near Atlanta
Spalding County commissioners unanimously approved a $3.9 billion data center development by Wallace Jackson LLC, covering 190 acres along Interstate 75. The project will include 10 buildings with a total area of five million square feet, comparable to two Mercedes-Benz Stadiums.
Local officials advocate that the center will economically benefit the area without costing taxpayers, aiming to lower taxes. However, residents expressed strong opposition, citing concerns about environmental pollution and the loss of agricultural land.
Despite the protests, the project received unanimous support from the commission. No timeline for construction or operational start has been provided.
