Spearmint Energy Secures $400 MWh Investment from Kyuden International for ERCOT Battery Projects

ENERGY STORAGE

Spearmint Energy has secured an equity investment from Kyuden International Corporation for two battery energy storage systems (BESS) totaling 400 MWh in ERCOT. The projects, Tierra Seca and Seven Flags, are each 100 MW / 200 MWh and located in Del Rio and Laredo, Texas.

This investment follows Spearmint's successful closure of $250 million in financing in Q2 2025, which supports these projects. Kyuden International's investment marks its first in U.S.-based BESS and aligns with its strategy to enter the U.S. energy market.

M.A. Mortenson Company is leading construction, utilizing Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd.'s PowerTitan 2.0 platform. Both projects are expected to commence operations in late December 2025.
