SR Co., Ltd. Launches Gimhae Plant for Battery Resource Circulation with 300 Tons Annual Capacity
SR Co., Ltd. has inaugurated its Gimhae Plant in South Gyeongsang Province, designed to process 300 tons of spent battery metal mixture annually as part of a battery resource circulation project. The facility employs a high-efficiency recovery process to extract valuable materials like lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese from lithium-ion batteries, addressing the increasing demand for waste battery recycling in the expanding secondary battery market. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving Changwon National University, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, and investment institutions.

SR Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Changwon National University, inaugurated its Gimhae Plant in the Daedong Industrial Complex, South Gyeongsang Province, on the 23rd. This facility will support the 'battery resource circulation' project and is designed to process 300 tons of spent battery metal mixture annually.
The opening reflects a successful collaboration between the university, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, and investment institutions aimed at establishing a mass production system. The plant utilizes a high-efficiency, low-cost metal recovery process, extracting lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese from crushed lithium-ion batteries.
This initiative addresses the growing need for waste battery recycling as the secondary battery market expands. The Gimhae Plant is expected to transform waste battery byproducts into high-value resources.
