SRC, Inc. has been awarded a $24 million contract by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to develop advanced embedded artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) capabilities for ground, air, and space applications.

The project involves creating new machine learning algorithms, high-performance embedded computing architectures, and ultra-low size, weight, and power (SWaP) hardware. The primary focus is on enhancing edge processing, which enables onboard data processing and situational awareness, eliminating reliance on distant data centers.

This initiative aims to improve data processing speeds as the U.S. Air Force prepares to deploy distributed and attritable systems in contested environments.
