The Information and Communication Technology Agency has finalized the Request for Information (RFI) for the selection of a Managed Service Provider (MSP) for the Sri Lanka Unique Digital Identity (SL-UDI) project. The evaluation process for the MSP, which includes major telecom operators among applicants, is expected to conclude in April.
The MSP will manage the biometric-based ID system after its initial phase, focusing on security, networking, and data center operations. The SL-UDI system is part of Sri Lanka's digital transformation and funded by a grant from the Government of India. It will utilize biometric data such as fingerprints, iris scans, and facial recognition, built on the MOSIP platform, incorporating existing software modules and devices.
