Sri Lanka Launches Education Digitalization Program with Chinese Support to Enhance Digital Learning Safety
Sri Lanka has launched an Education Digitalization Program, supported by a Chinese government grant, to enhance digital learning safety and bridge the digital divide in schools. Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya highlighted the initiative's focus on equitable access to technology, which includes establishing a national cloud data center and developing approximately 900 smart classrooms equipped with AI features. The program aims to ensure that all students benefit from modern educational resources.

Sri Lanka's Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, emphasized the need to bridge the digital divide in schools during the launch of the Education Digitalization Program on January 14.
Funded by a Chinese government grant, the program aims to ensure safe and equitable access to technology in education. Dr. Amarasuriya stated that schools lacking proper technology must be identified and supported, ensuring all students benefit from modern learning resources.
The initiative focuses on creating a secure digital learning environment, including establishing a national cloud data center, developing distance learning methods, and setting up approximately 900 smart classrooms equipped with artificial intelligence features. The launch event was attended by Deputy Ministers and officials from the Chinese Embassy.
