STANLIB Khanyisa Energy Transition Fund Achieves R5 Billion First Close to Support South Africa's Energy Transition

STANLIB Asset Management has announced the first close of its Khanyisa Energy Transition Fund, raising R5 billion. Launched in November 2023 with seed funding from Standard Bank and Liberty, the fund aims to finance South Africa's Just Energy Transition.

As of December 2025, it has deployed capital across 14 assets in the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme. The fund is expected to grow to R18 billion, investing in renewable energy, decentralized energy, critical minerals, green hydrogen, and electric vehicle infrastructure. The fund focuses on credit assets that provide predictable cash flows and lower risk, appealing to institutional investors.
