Starkville Secures $1.29 Million Grant for Sewer Service Expansion by 2027
Starkville has received a $1.29 million Community Development Block Grant for sewer service extension to Henderson and Sand roads, benefiting about 30 homes. Starkville has been approved for a $1.29 million Community Development Block Grant to extend sewer service to Henderson and Sand roads, impacting about 30 homes. Construction is slated for 2027, with a city match of $590,000 from water and sewer funds.
Additional infrastructure projects include a $10 million upgrade at the Ernest E. Jones Wastewater Treatment Plant, nearly 43% complete, and the Influent Lift Station project, funded by $720,000 from the Appalachian Regional Commission.
The city also plans to relocate the Josey Creek sewage pumping station at a projected cost of $2.7 million, to be completed by fall 2027. Starkville has secured a $1.9 million EPA grant for water line improvements and is pursuing further grants for infrastructure upgrades.
