Statkraft Submits Revised Plans for Mossy Hill Wind Farm with Eight 145m Turbines
Revised plans for the Mossy Hill wind farm near Lerwick include eight turbines, maintaining the previously consented height of 145m. Originally approved for twelve turbines in 2019, Statkraft acquired the project from Peel Energy in 2023 and reduced the number of turbines to minimize visual impact. The application will be reviewed by Shetland Islands Council, as it remains under the 50MW threshold. Statkraft is also exploring revisions for its Beaw Field project and proposing ammonia plants near Dales Voe and Scatsta Airport.
Statkraft has submitted revised plans for the Mossy Hill wind farm near Lerwick, featuring eight turbines at a height of 145 metres, the same as previously approved. The project, originally consented in 2019 for twelve turbines, was acquired from Peel Energy in 2023, prompting a design review to reduce the number of turbines.
The application will be assessed by Shetland Islands Council due to its sub-50MW capacity. Changes to access tracks and infrastructure are included, and a substation has already received planning approval. Statkraft is also considering revisions for the Beaw Field project and proposing ammonia plants at two locations.
