Østfold Energi Collaborates on Data Centers for Google in Norway's Sarpsborg and Valer
Østfold Energi is developing data center sites in Sarpsborg and Valer, Norway, in partnership with local municipalities. The Valer site is expected to be utilized by Google, which has applied for network capacity. The Sarpsborg project is in the initial phase with zoning work beginning, aiming for completion by 2027. The combined area for development is approximately 1,740 acres, potentially supporting around 300MW. Østfold Energi has been involved in data center initiatives since 2019.

The Sarpsborg project, owned by Østfold Energi (66%) and Sarpsborg Municipality (34%), is in the initial phase, with zoning work expected to conclude by 2027. The site covers 1,740 acres and could support approximately 300MW. The Valer project is managed by KI Våler AS, majority-owned by Østfold Energi, which has granted Google development rights. Østfold Energi began exploring data center opportunities in 2019.
