Survey Shows 50% Support for Positive Economic Impact of ELWIND Offshore Wind Park in Latvia
A recent survey indicates that 50% of respondents believe the ELWIND offshore wind park will positively impact Latvia's economy. Awareness of wind park development and energy security issues is increasing, with 65% of respondents informed about the project. The ELWIND initiative, a collaboration between Latvia and Estonia, aims for a 2 GW capacity offshore wind park by 2035, promoting energy independence and creating new business opportunities.

A survey by Norstat Latvia reveals that 50% of respondents believe the ELWIND offshore wind park will positively impact Latvia's economy. Awareness of the project has risen to 65%, up from 61% last year.
The majority of respondents support the construction of the wind park off Kurzeme's coast, with 53% in favor. The ELWIND project aims to build a 2 GW offshore wind park in the Baltic Sea by 2035, enhancing energy independence and regional competitiveness.
Pre-development work will conclude in 2029, leading to a planned auction for the offshore site. The project is a collaboration between Latvia's Investment and Development Agency and Estonia's Environmental Investment Centre.
