Sustainable Shipping Vessels Enhance Operations at Santa Marta Port
Santa Marta Port is advancing sustainability with three newly arrived vessels designed for environmental protection and energy efficiency. This shift is crucial for enhancing Colombia's energy security and reducing carbon emissions in maritime operations.

The Santa Marta Port has integrated three vessels focused on sustainability and energy transition. The ARMADA, contracted by Petrobras for the Sirius 2 project, is a 2023-built ship flagged in Singapore, known for its fuel efficiency.
The ECO TRAMONTANE, a 2025 model from X-PRESS FEEDER, features lithium batteries and technology that utilizes engine waste heat for energy, achieving a 50% reduction in carbon footprint compared to older models. The GREEN PIONEER, operational since April 23, is the first ship capable of running on eco-friendly ammonia.
Furthermore, CMA CGM's zero-emission refrigerated containers, powered by renewable energy, significantly lower carbon footprints. This development positions the port as a leader in sustainable maritime trade.
