Swiss Data Science Center and Canton of Vaud Fund AI Start-ups and Projects
The Canton of Vaud, in collaboration with the Swiss Data Science Center, is investing 7.5 million francs from 2024-2028 to foster AI innovation through a collaborative program. Two start-ups, including Neurosoft Bioelectronics, are among the four selected projects aiming to integrate AI into various sectors.
The partnership between the Swiss Data Science Center and the Canton of Vaud will fund a total of 7.5 million francs for collaborative AI projects over the 2024-2028 period. Among the four projects selected from 57 submissions, Neurosoft Bioelectronics has received a computational support grant to utilize the Alps supercomputer for training neural decoding models, enhancing brain function research.
The other start-up project involves using virtual reality technology to assess the impact of glaucoma, utilizing data from the University Hospital of Bern. Additional projects include predictive maintenance tools from Bobst and an interactive system for parliamentary access by the cantonal administration.
This initiative aims to bolster the region's role in AI and data science, with annual funding of CHF 1.5 million for future calls. The next call for projects is scheduled for September.
