Swiss Federal Railways Seeks Bids for AiNET Program to Upgrade Data Network
DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE
Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has opened bids for its AiNET program, designed to replace the existing Datacom-NG data network. Separate contracts will be awarded for integrator, technology supplier, and service provider roles, with work beginning in Q2 2027 and maintenance starting in Q1 2028.
The AiNET system will support essential functions such as train control and dispatch systems. SBB's upgrade is part of efforts to optimize operations amid space constraints for network expansion. Concurrently, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is inviting bids for a new Tier IV data center to replace its current facility near Bern.
