Taiwan Launches 3.6 GW Offshore Wind Auction with New Incentives
Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs opens a new offshore wind auction for 3.6 GW of capacity, with applications running until September 30. This initiative is critical for developers and investors aiming to leverage Taiwan's growing offshore wind market before successful bidders are announced by year-end.

Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs has commenced a new offshore wind auction aiming to allocate up to 3.6 GW of capacity, with applications open from April 1 to September 30. Successful bidders will be announced by the end of 2026, and projects are expected to connect to the grid between 2030 and 2031.
The auction scoring system weighs developer performance and execution capability at 70%, with financial capacity at 30%. New incentives include a minimum guaranteed purchase price and an extension of electricity sales for projects achieving early grid connection. The changes may attract significant interest from developers, boosting Taiwan's offshore wind sector amidst global supply chain challenges.
