Tajikistan and Abu Dhabi Fund Sign $100 Million Agreement for Rogun Hydropower Plant
Tajikistan and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development have signed a $100 million agreement to support construction at the Rogun Hydropower Plant. The funds will advance Lot 2 of the project, essential for enhancing Tajikistan's energy security. The deal was signed in Dubai by Tajikistan's Finance Minister and ADFD's Director General, with construction nearing 60% completion and an expected capacity of 3,780 MW upon full operation.

Tajikistan and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development signed a $100 million financial agreement on February 4, 2026, to support construction at the Rogun Hydropower Plant. The funding will be allocated to Lot 2 of the project, which involves the installation of hydropower equipment and construction of infrastructure.
The project aims to enhance Tajikistan's energy security with a total installed capacity of 3,780 MW. Currently, construction is about 60% complete, and the Roghun plant is expected to generate over 14.5 billion kWh annually once fully operational. Agreements with international partners have secured over $2 billion for the project.
