Tallahassee Expands Solar and Battery Storage Initiatives
Tallahassee City Commission has authorized investigations into enhancing solar and battery storage capabilities by 2030. The utility aims to bolster renewable energy generation through specific proposals at six identified locations.

Tallahassee's utility aims to integrate additional renewable energy generation and battery storage into its system by 2030. The City Commission has approved staff to investigate six potential sites from five vendors for these enhancements.
Clean energy manager Michael Olsen indicated that these locations could significantly support the electric system. While the majority of commissioners backed the initiative, Jeremy Matlow and Jack Porter opposed the motion, advocating for a return to the commission for final approval post-studies. This approach could impact the timeline and execution of the renewable energy objectives.
