Tanzania Uncovers Valuable Mineral Deposits with Chinese Partnership
Tanzania has identified significant deposits of Neodymium and Praseodymium in Njombe Region through a collaboration with Hongji Mining Co. Ltd. This discovery may enhance Tanzania's position in the global critical minerals market amid rising demand for clean energy technologies.

Tanzanian officials announced the discovery of Neodymium and Praseodymium deposits in Mkiu Village, Njombe Region, in partnership with Chinese company Hongji Mining Co. Ltd. This exploration highlights China's increasing involvement in Africa's strategic minerals sector, as it currently dominates the global rare earth supply chain.
The Tanzanian government is evaluating the potential and size of these deposits, which could lead to substantial investment and export opportunities. Should the commercial viability be confirmed, Tanzania could emerge as a competitor in the rare earth market alongside established players like South Africa and Madagascar.
