Tarentum Council Approves Power Agreements with Potomac Energy and Bright Mountain Solar
DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE
Tarentum Council approved agreements with Potomac Energy Center and Bright Mountain Solar to secure electricity capacity and manage rising costs. The 15-year deal with Potomac reserves 600 kilowatt hours from its plant in Virginia, while Bright Mountain provides 1.5 megawatt hours over 25 years from Kentucky.
This represents about 10% of Tarentum's annual power needs of 32,000 megawatt hours. Capacity prices have escalated from $28 to $325 per megawatt hour, prompting proactive measures to avoid future increases. These agreements aim to stabilize costs amid market volatility influenced by rising demand, especially from data centers.
