Taseko Mines Achieves First Copper Production at Florence Copper in Arizona Since 2008
Taseko Mines has produced its first copper cathodes at the Florence Copper operation in Arizona, marking the first new U.S. copper production from a greenfield project since 2008. The electrowinning plant began operations in late February, and Taseko expects the site to produce at least 1.5 billion pounds of copper over 22 years, aiming to become the third-largest copper cathode producer in the U.S.

Taseko Mines has harvested its first copper cathodes at the Florence Copper operation in Arizona, representing the first new copper production in the U.S. from a greenfield project since 2008. The electrowinning plant commenced operations in late February, with expectations of reaching a capacity of 85 million pounds of LME Grade A copper annually.
The project is projected to yield a minimum of 1.5 billion pounds of copper over a 22-year life span. All produced copper will remain in the U.S. to support domestic manufacturing, particularly in sectors such as automotive and aerospace. Florence Copper is also notable for using in-situ copper recovery (ISCR), a cost-effective and environmentally favorable method.
