Tata Motors to Begin Hydrogen Bus Production in Lucknow
Tata Motors plans to manufacture hydrogen fuel cell and ICE buses at its Lucknow facility, enhancing its green mobility portfolio. This initiative aligns with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and aims to support the decarbonization of heavy commercial transport.

Tata Motors announced the launch of hydrogen fuel cell and internal combustion engine (ICE) bus production at its Lucknow plant, part of a broader strategy to advance its green mobility offerings. This facility, operational since 1992 and spanning 600 acres, has evolved from traditional bus manufacturing to include electric and low-floor vehicles.
The plant aims for 100% renewable energy by 2030 and supports India's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. With over 1,200 electric buses delivered, Tata Motors is also leveraging its Pune research facility, which has developed hydrogen buses featuring 350-bar storage and 70 kW fuel cell stacks. The initiative reflects a significant shift in automotive manufacturing towards sustainable solutions.
