Tata Motors to Deploy 40 Hydrogen Trucks at Tuticorin Port under MoU with VOCPA
Tata Motors signed a MoU with V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority to deploy 40 hydrogen trucks at Tuticorin port, Tamil Nadu. Trials will start with one hydrogen-powered prime mover, followed by phased deployment over two years. The project is funded by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, which aims to enhance green energy adoption in India.

Tata Motors has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, to deploy 40 hydrogen-powered prime movers for cargo transport. The project will commence with trials of one hydrogen-powered truck, followed by phased deployment over two years.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways will fund the initiative. Plans include establishing a 2 MW electrolyzer and a hydrogen refueling station to support the deployment. This move aims to decarbonize cargo handling and promote sustainable logistics at the port.
