Tata Power and Delectrik Systems to Advance Long-Duration Energy Storage Projects in India
Tata Power has secured a 1,500 MW pumped hydro storage project under SECI, with a commissioning target of 2029. Delectrik Systems will implement India's first utility-scale Vanadium Redox Flow Battery project, set for deployment in 2027.

Tata Power's 1,500 MW pumped hydro storage project, awarded by SECI, will enhance energy reliability during peak demand, with a 40-year PPA and commissioning expected by 2029. The project will connect to the South Kalamb CTU Substation and is part of a larger pipeline that includes the 1,800 MW Shirwata PSP.
In parallel, Delectrik Systems will deploy a 100 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery at Khavda Solar Park by 2027, marking India's first non-lithium utility-scale energy storage system. This project aligns with NTPC's aim to expand its renewable capacity to 60 GW by 2032, with Khavda projected to become the world's largest RE park by 2029. Both projects underscore the importance of long-duration storage in facilitating renewable energy integration.
