TCN Advances Amuwo Substation Upgrade with New GIS and Transformers by July 2026
TCN is on track to complete the Amuwo Substation upgrade by July 2026, enhancing capacity by 60MVA. The project aims to improve overall power supply reliability.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is progressing with the upgrade of the Amuwo 132/33kV Transmission Substation, scheduled for completion in July 2026. Initiated in March 2026, the project includes the installation of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) equipment and two 60MVA transformers, replacing the previous 30MVA units.
The upgrade will increase the substation's capacity by 60MVA, enhancing power transmission reliability. To mitigate disruptions, TCN deployed two mobile transformers to support Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies during the upgrade, ensuring continuous power supply in the region.
