The Telangana Government has approved Power Purchase Agreements for 3,000 MW of solar power and plans for 2,000 MW of pumped storage projects. These initiatives aim to enhance energy security, prevent power shortages, and support industrial growth.

The solar PPAs will be valid for five years and are intended to provide reliable and affordable electricity. The Cabinet, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, also emphasized the need for energy storage solutions to ensure grid stability.

Additionally, new industrial units can now generate captive power without capacity limits. The Cabinet is also pursuing an 800 MW thermal power plant at Ramagundam and similar projects in collaboration with NTPC.

A new power distribution company will be created to manage free power supply to the agricultural sector. These measures reflect the government’s commitment to a sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure.
