Telecom and Claro to Invest $1.8 Billion in Argentina's Telecom Sector in 2026
Telecom and Claro are set to invest a combined $1.8 billion in Argentina in 2026, marking a significant commitment to expand network capacity and infrastructure. This investment, aimed at advancing 5G and fiber optic deployments, comes at a time when the oil sector's investments far exceed those of telecommunications.

In 2026, Telecom will allocate $1.3 billion and Claro $500 million towards expanding their telecommunications networks in Argentina. Telecom's recent acquisition of Telefónica for $1.245 billion reflects ongoing consolidation in the sector, with plans for over 2,000 5G sites and a target of 300,000 customers using 5G FWA by year-end.
Claro aims to enhance its FTTH and 5G capabilities, despite facing regulatory challenges in Buenos Aires, and plans to inaugurate a new data center in the city. Both companies' investments echo the levels seen a decade ago, although the oil industry's annual investments now exceed $11 billion, highlighting the shifting economic landscape. This dual investment could enhance connectivity in economically active regions, crucial for driving future growth.
