Telefónica España is establishing mini data centers, referred to as Edge Computing nodes, to provide secure and rapid data access for businesses and institutions. Each node has a capacity of 1 to 2 MW and utilizes existing real estate for deployment. The initiative is part of a European Interest Project coordinated by the European Commission, with Telefónica's proposal receiving national recognition in June 2021 and €93 million in funding, supplemented by additional company investment.
