Tenaska and TVA Partner on $300 Million Battery Storage Project in Tennessee
Tenaska and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) have signed a 20-year agreement for a 225 MW battery storage project in East Tennessee, with construction set to begin in 2027. This initiative is projected to create 75 jobs and contribute $300 million to the local economy, reinforcing energy security and grid reliability for the region.

Tenaska's Bobwhite Energy Storage has finalized a long-term energy storage agreement with TVA for a 225-megawatt/900-megawatt hour battery project in Hawkins County, Tennessee. Construction is anticipated to start in 2027, and the project aims to be operational by late 2029.
This agreement enhances TVA's capacity for managing peak demand and supports a strategic initiative to improve grid reliability. The total investment for the project is estimated at $300 million, generating approximately 75 jobs during peak construction. Additionally, it aligns with efforts to bolster local economies and integrate renewable resources into the energy mix, furthering the U.S. energy security agenda.
