TerraForm Power Acquires 1.5 GW Steward Creek Solar Project in Illinois

TerraForm Power acquired the Steward Creek Solar project from Hexagon Energy, located in Lee County, Illinois. The project has a nameplate capacity of 1.56 GWdc (1.2 GWac) and includes a 600 MW interconnection agreement within the PJM market, facilitating electricity delivery to the regional grid.
Construction is planned in two phases: the first phase starts in 2027 and operations begin in 2029, while the second phase starts in 2028 and operations begin in 2030. The project design allows for an additional 150 MW battery energy storage system. This acquisition expands TerraForm's renewable energy capacity, contributing to a total development pipeline of 7 GW.
