Tesco and Branston Launch Low-Carbon Potatoes in UK Stores

CIRCULAR ECONOMY & RECYCLING

Tesco and Branston are launching low-carbon Georgina potatoes in UK stores on February 23. These potatoes were cultivated at a Lincolnshire concept farm established to aid farmers in achieving net zero targets.

The farm has produced 500 tonnes of potatoes using low-carbon methods, resulting in over 50% lower carbon emissions compared to traditional farming. Techniques include circular economy fertilizers and hydrotreated vegetable oil fuel. The project aims to evaluate the impacts of sustainable practices and promote them across the agricultural industry, with a focus on innovation and technology to combat climate challenges.
