Texas Proposes Changes to Data Center Grid Connection Requirements
DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTUREPOWER GRIDS & TRANSMISSION
Texas regulators are proposing to ease requirements for data centers looking to connect to the state's main power grid. Chair Thomas Gleeson of the Public Utility Commission (PUC) suggested lowering fees and adding standards for site readiness.
The proposal will be published in the Texas Register, with public comments accepted until April 17. Projects meeting the new 'gating' requirements may be included in the initial review for interconnection with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). The PUC aims to ensure reliable electricity while managing new demand and infrastructure needs.
