Texas Southern University (TSU) is set to open a spaceport facility at Ellington Airport, developed in partnership with the City of Houston and the Houston Airport System. The facility will house office and classroom space, specifically for the aerospace engineering program approved by the Board of Regents in February.
This development is intended to equip students with the skills necessary for careers in aerospace and commercial aviation. Previous collaborations by the Houston Airport System include the establishment of the EDGE aerospace workforce development center with San Jacinto College.
Houston Spaceport has also engaged with Rice University, Texas A&M University, and the University of Houston - Clear Lake for similar initiatives. This facility could significantly impact local workforce readiness in aerospace sectors.
