TFI Expands VACI Certification Scheme to Include Ammonia-Derived Fertilizers
The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) has updated its Verified Ammonia Carbon Intensity (VACI) certification scheme to include nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, urea, and urea ammonium nitrate. A 90-day comment period is open for feedback from stakeholders. VACI, launched in December 2024, verifies carbon intensity for ammonia used in fertilizers and industrial applications, and now includes a Product Carbon Footprint tool for ammonia-derived products.

The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) has expanded its Verified Ammonia Carbon Intensity (VACI) certification scheme to include nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, urea, and urea ammonium nitrate. This update follows a 90-day comment period for feedback from ammonia producers, fertilizer manufacturers, farmers, and other stakeholders.
The VACI scheme, launched in December 2024, is designed to verify the carbon intensity of ammonia used in fertilizers and industrial processes. A Product Carbon Footprint tool is also now available to track carbon intensity from ammonia production through to fertilizer manufacturing.
