Thailand and Myanmar Aim for $12B Trade Target with JTC Revival
Thailand and Myanmar are working to revive the Joint Trade Committee (JTC) to facilitate trade and achieve a $12 billion target by 2032. Key areas of focus include improving market access for Thai exports and enhancing bilateral investment opportunities across various sectors.

Thailand and Myanmar plan to revive the Joint Trade Committee (JTC) to achieve a $12 billion trade goal by 2032. Thai-Myanmar border trade totaled 92.73 billion baht in the first half of 2026, with major exports including mobile phones and diesel, while imports primarily consisted of natural gas and mineral ores.
Myanmar is adjusting export regulations and seeking to strengthen domestic manufacturing and food security, which may improve market access for Thai exporters, especially in machinery and construction materials. However, cheaper imports from Myanmar could pressure Thai farmers' prices. Reviving the JTC aims to streamline import licensing and customs procedures, enhancing trade continuity and investment ties.
