Thameslink and Great Northern are donating abandoned bikes from 81 stations across Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Norfolk to TAG Bikes in Huntingdon. Adults with learning difficulties will service and repair these bikes before selling them back to the community.
This initiative, part of the Supporting into Work program by Cambridgeshire County Council, aims to develop employability skills and independence among participants. Since 2018, over 1,000 bikes have been processed, with funds raised reinvested into the project for tools and equipment. The partnership supports the circular economy and community sustainability.
