Tharsis Mining Seeks Environmental Approval for Andévalo Mines Reopening
Tharsis Mining has initiated the unified environmental authorization process for the Andévalo project, aiming to reopen historic mines. This initiative is set to last for thirty years and could significantly impact local employment and economic development.

Tharsis Mining, part of the Magtel group, is pursuing environmental approval for the Andévalo mining project, focusing on historic sites in Alosno, Puebla de Guzmán, and El Cerro del Andévalo. The initiative follows over 200 deep drilling surveys revealing more than 220 million tons of polymetallic sulfides, including copper, zinc, and gold.
Over €40 million has been invested, including hiring 30 professionals for the reopening efforts. In 2024, the company requested strategic project status from the EU to expedite the process. Tharsis Mining also holds exploration permits in Sevilla and additional requests in Córdoba, Málaga, and Jaén, indicating a broader mining strategy.
