The ePlane Company Develops India's First Electric Air Taxi, e200X, Targeting Urban Air Mobility
The ePlane Company is advancing the e200X, India's first electric air taxi, targeting urban air mobility. A Frost & Sullivan study estimates potential demand in India at 200 million air-taxi trips per month, requiring 200,000 aircraft by 2030. The e200X will begin with an air ambulance variant and expand to passenger and cargo services. Indian cities already have infrastructure for air taxis, with regulations supporting helipad conversions to vertiports. The e200X features advanced technology for energy efficiency and is being developed at a facility in IIT Madras.

The ePlane Company is developing India’s first electric air taxi, the e200X, aimed at urban air mobility. A Frost & Sullivan study estimates a demand of 200 million air-taxi trips per month, necessitating 200,000 aircraft by 2030.
The e200X will initially serve as an air ambulance with plans to expand into passenger and cargo operations. Urban areas in India, including Bengaluru, have existing rooftop aviation infrastructure, with regulations promoting helipad conversions to vertiports.
The aircraft features a compact design for urban environments and utilizes Synergistic Lift technology for improved energy efficiency. Development is supported by India’s largest eVTOL prototyping facility at IIT Madras.
