TikTok USDS Faces Service Interruptions Linked to Oracle Data Center Issues in the US
TikTok USDS experienced a second service interruption linked to technical difficulties at an Oracle data center, following a majority ownership shift from ByteDance in January. Reports of disruptions began to rise before 09:00 ET, peaking later in the afternoon, mainly from cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
The initial outage occurred shortly after the ownership change and was attributed to a winter storm. Oracle, holding an 80% stake in TikTok USDS, has not identified the specific cause for the latest failure. These recurring technical issues raise concerns about the stability of the hosting arrangement that ensures US user data is managed on domestic servers.
