Timisoara Initiates Tender for Solar Park to Reduce Public Lighting Costs
Timisoara City Hall has launched a tender for a solar park to cover two-thirds of public lighting energy needs. The project, with an investment of RON 32 million, aims to produce nearly 8 GWh of renewable energy annually.

Timisoara City Hall is seeking technical design and execution services for a solar park that will have an installed capacity of 5.6 MW. The facility, covering 20 hectares near the Freidorf wastewater treatment plant, is expected to produce approximately 7,800 MWh of green energy annually, covering about two-thirds of the public lighting consumption.
This initiative will lead to a reduction in monthly lighting costs, currently exceeding RON 1.2 million, and decrease greenhouse gas emissions by about 4,800 tonnes of CO2 equivalent each year. The project is financed through the Modernisation Fund managed by the Ministry of Energy, and companies can register for the tender via the electronic procurement platform.
