Timo Grunemann Appointed Head of Spectroscopy Research Group at SKZ Plastics Center
Timo Grunemann became the head of the spectroscopy research group at SKZ Plastics Center on January 1, 2026. His focus will be on advancing AI-supported analysis methods and spectroscopic technologies for recycling plastics. Grunemann previously led projects in the Digitalization Research Group, including the SpectralAIge project, which aims to assess process-related aging in plastics using hyperspectral imaging and AI. The group will continue to enhance modern spectroscopic methods and explore hydrogen permeation in plastics.

On January 1, 2026, Timo Grunemann assumed leadership of the spectroscopy research group at the SKZ Plastics Center. His role focuses on AI-supported analysis and spectroscopic methods for recycling. Grunemann has experience from the Digitalization Research Group, where he worked on AI models for process optimization.
He is involved in the SpectralAIge project, which utilizes hyperspectral imaging and AI to detect aging in plastics for improved recycling. The Spectroscopy Group will also develop methods to evaluate recyclates and explore hydrogen permeation testing in plastics, aiming for efficient alternatives to conventional methods.
