Tiruvallur Ammonia Leak: 6 Fatalities and Multiple Hospitalizations
A gas leak at a seafood processing facility in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, has resulted in six deaths and over 70 hospitalizations. The Tamil Nadu government has initiated an investigation into safety violations and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

An ammonia gas leak at St Peter & Paul Seafoods Exports in Tiruvallur has led to six confirmed fatalities and over 70 workers hospitalized, with some requiring ventilator support. The incident occurred when ammonia leaked from the facility, affecting around 120 migrant workers on-site, including women from Assam, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
Many workers exhibited severe respiratory symptoms, including breathlessness and bleeding from the mouth and nose. The Tamil Nadu government has ordered an inquiry committee to investigate safety violations, with an interim report due within 24 hours. Critical patients have been transferred to Chennai's Government Stanley Medical College Hospital for advanced care, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding workplace safety protocols.
