TOMRA Recycling has launched a new AI platform from PolyPerception, acquiring a 51% stake to enhance its GAINnext technology. This platform introduces advanced sorting capabilities and three deep learning applications aimed at improving recycling efficiency and material tracking.

TOMRA Recycling has launched an AI platform from PolyPerception and acquired a 51% majority stake in the company. The new platform enhances the Waste Analyser solution, allowing real-time tracking of material streams and providing operators with natural language responses to queries related to plant operations.
It features a similarity search for identifying hazards and a text search for specific brand monitoring. Additionally, TOMRA has introduced three deep learning applications for its GAINnext technology, targeting food-grade PET trays, copper-steel composites, and high-throughput aluminum recovery.
The latter offers significantly improved throughput compared to manual sorting. These advancements may lead to increased operational efficiencies and enhanced recycling outcomes in the industry.
