Tooele Army Depot Positioned for Public-Private Partnerships in Defense Sector
The U.S. Army is prioritizing partnerships with the private sector to enhance its defense capabilities, with Tooele Army Depot identified as a key player. This shift responds to the growing demand for munitions and aims to integrate commercial innovation with military operations.

Tooele Army Depot (TEAD) is being positioned by the U.S. Army for public-private partnerships to advance defense modernization. The depot spans 43,000 acres and operates over 1,100 earth-covered magazines, focusing on ammunition management and technical munitions maintenance.
The Army's new strategy follows a successful Enhanced Use Lease at Pine Bluff Arsenal, where Hanwha Defense invested $1.3 billion. Local support is also enhancing TEAD's potential, with Utah's Military Installation Development Authority exploring collaborative opportunities. This approach aims to leverage TEAD's resources while addressing modernization funding gaps through private sector engagement, signaling a shift in defense operations.
