TotalEnergies H2 is seeking a Federal Court determination to extinguish native title claims for the Wak Wak Solar Farm project near Darwin, which spans 2,500 hectares. This project, once completed, would be one of Australia's largest solar facilities, generating up to 2.7 gigawatts of power.
The Northern Land Council is facilitating discussions between TotalEnergies and traditional owners, who express concerns about their rights being overlooked. The company plans to negotiate a voluntary Indigenous land use agreement while also pursuing a green hydrogen production facility. The project has received major project status from the NT government.
