Toyota Advances Circular Economy in Automotive Production
Toyota's new Circular Factory in Europe maximizes material reuse, promoting sustainability in vehicle production. This initiative aims to reduce dependency on raw materials and enhance recycling efficiency.

Toyota is implementing a Circular Factory in Burnaston, UK, focusing on recycling and reusing materials in automotive production. Old aluminum parts, such as wheels, are dismantled and reprocessed into new engine components at the Deeside plant, which are then utilized in new Toyota Corolla models.
This approach leverages the Toyota Production System by incorporating vehicle disassembly and material analysis to inform design for easier repair and recycling. A second Circular Factory is being established in Poland, aiming to create a broader network that impacts the entire automotive industry. The shift reduces reliance on new raw materials and enhances vehicle lifecycle management.
