Toyota Industries and Daigas Group Conduct Japan's First Ammonia-Fired Metal Heat Treatment Demonstration
Toyota Industries and Daigas Energy have successfully completed Japan's first demonstration of metal heat treatment using ammonia fuel at Toyota's Higashichita Plant. The ammonia burner developed by Daigas was installed in a mass-production-scale furnace, achieving product quality comparable to mass-produced items. This initiative supports Toyota's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 and explores the potential of ammonia as a decarbonized fuel.

Toyota Industries and Daigas Energy conducted Japan's first demonstration of metal heat treatment using ammonia fuel at Toyota's Higashichita Plant. An ammonia burner developed by Daigas was used in a mass-production-scale furnace for automotive engine parts, confirming product quality aligned with mass production.
This effort supports Toyota's aim for carbon neutrality by 2050. The ammonia burner addresses combustion challenges, achieving stable combustion and reducing NOx emissions. The companies will further explore ammonia's application in manufacturing processes based on this demonstration's results.
