Toyota Unveils New Hilux Pickup in Thailand Ahead of 2026 Global Launch
Toyota has officially revealed the new Hilux pickup in Thailand, marking its ninth generation. The model, which is built in South Africa, will go on sale globally in 2026 and will include a battery electric vehicle option. Key features include a new design, advanced driver assistance systems, and a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine. Additionally, a hydrogen fuel cell variant is expected in 2028.

Toyota has revealed the new Hilux pickup in Thailand, marking the ninth generation of the best-selling vehicle in South Africa. The new model will be available globally in 2026, including an all-new battery electric vehicle (BEV) option.
It features a revised exterior design with a honeycomb grille and LED lighting. The interior shares design elements with the new Prado SUV and includes advanced driver assistance systems. The confirmed powertrains include a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine with mild hybrid technology and a new BEV with a 59.2kWh battery and a range of 240km. A hydrogen fuel cell variant is planned for release in 2028.
